HOW IT WORKS

Families are able to login to their online account, enter the time and date that care is needed, and receive options for one-time sitting. Our software will display the available providers, families can browse through profiles, and chose a sitter who will be the best fit for them. 

Once your sitter is confirmed, he/she will arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled start time and be ready to go! At the end of each appointment, payment will be made via cash, check, or Venmo directly to your sitter.

Membership for STL Sitter is $75 per year. The fee is nonrefundable and will be charged annually to your card on file.

Effective 8/1/19: Members who cancel confirmed appointments within 1 HOUR of the start time will be charged the FULL AMOUNT OWED to the sitter in addition to a $5 service fee.

A nonrefundable scheduling fee is paid to the office every time you book a sit. The price of the fee is determined by the amount of notice the office was given.

Cancellation fees are paid online and distributed to your sitter for the inconvenience.

Clients are responsible for paying their sitter directly at the time of departure. Sitters can be paid via cash, check, or Venmo! 

Additional fees will be calculated by your sitter and noted on the sitter log.

Booking

Can the sitter transport my children?


Sitters are happy to transport your children wherever they need to go! All sitters on staff have clean driving records and drive their own insured vehicles. The transportation cost is 0.58 cents/mile for any driving with your children in the sitters vehicle!




Can I meet and interview my sitter before my appointment?


No. STL Sitter is a full-service babysitting agency; we complete all of the leg work for you! All of our sitters have gone through an extensive interview and training process and are fully vetted by the time they are dispatched to your appointment. Our sitters work with many families each week and are not able to accommadate extra interviews before one-time babysitting appointments. If you prefer to meet your sitter in advance and have consistent needs, we highly recommend our Semester Program!




Can I choose a sitter for my appointment?


Yes! Once you click on Make and Appointment and enter the date and time you are looking for coverage a list of available sitters will pop up. You can see the name, photo, and profile of each available sitter before selecting someone you think will be a good fit for your family!




What happens if my first choice sitter declined my request?


If your first choice declines, our office will step in to choose a sitter who can confirm your request as quickly as possible! You will recieve email confirmation as soon as your sitter is secured and be able to view their profile at any time to read more about them. Sitters are only allowed a limited number of declines per month, as we understand it is frustrating to select a sitter and be assigned someone else. We want to ensure each sitter that confirms one of your requests is fully comfortable and confident with all of the details you provide!




Can I text or call my sitter prior to the appointment?


No. Per our Terms and Conditions, all communication outside of a scheduled sit is strictly prohibited. If you have any details that need to get to your sitter, just email, text, or call our office and we will ensure they recieve promptly!




Our family really enjoyed our previous sitter, but they are not showing up as available when I go to book. Is there any way to see if they are avaialble?


Yes! Our sitters love returning to client's homes and will always do their best to accommadate your requests if their schedules allow. If you go to book and a specific sitter is not showing avaialble, please email our office with the date and time you need coverage along with the sitter name and we will check with them to see if they can open their schedule for you! Our sitters are allowed the flexibility of making their own schedules, so sometimes they will be blocked off unless they receive a specific request.




Can I change the time of a confirmed appointment?


Time change requests can be submitted via your online client account. These requests will go directly to your sitter to confirm or decline quickly based on their availability. If your sitter has to decline your time change request, the original appointment time will still be confirmed. If your sitter is not able to accommadate your reuqest and you would like us to work on securing another provider for the new times, please contact our office!




What happens if my child is sick?


STL Sitter cannot dispatch a provider if your child has Strep, Pink eye, Hand Foot and Mouth, or the Flu. If your child has any other conditions (ear infection, low-grade fever, virus, teething etc) your sitter can still arrive as scheduled. Sitters charge an additional $1/hour for sick children




Can my sitter help clean my house?


Sitters are paid for childcare services only. Sitters are expected to clean up all childcare-related messes made during the appointment, but are not able to accommadate any additional cleaning, vacuuming, laundry etc.




What is a Family Share?


STL Sitter's Family Share appointments are utilized when two STLS families would like to schedule 1 or more sitter(s) to watch both family's children during an appointment.




What is the timeline for my confirmation after I have submit a request with a "Placeholder"?


If only given the "Placeholder" option, we are currently sold out for the date and time you have requested. If the Placeholder is chosen and you complete scheduling + payment, our office will be alerted and assign a sitter as soon as they become available.

  • If we are unable to accomodate your request, we will credit the scheudling fee back to the client account.
  • Our staff works to fill these requests in the order they are received, and will notify you as soon as there is an update.
  • If you prefer to cancel the request at any time, please email us, we are happy to credit the scheduling fee back to the client account.




How long will it take to receive a confirmation for my request?


While we cannot guarantee a specific timeline for every request, sitters are required to respond to requests each evening by 10pm! If no response is recieved or you would like an update on the status of your request, we are happy to reach out to your sitter(s) in hopes that they are able to confirm for you.

  • After your request has been submit, nothing more is needed from the member! A confirmation email will be sent as soon as your provider confirms online.
  • If an appointment is 14 days+ away, providers are allowed a window of 24-36 hours after the initial request to ensure they are able to commit to the appointment.





Payment

How do I pay my sitter?


Sitters are paid at the time of departure from your home via cash, check, or Venmo!




Do I have to pay each time I book a sitter?


Yes! A non-refundable scheduling fee is paid online via credit card each time you submit an appointment request in order to compensate our staff for arranging your coverage. STL Sitter Scheduling Fees: > 72 hours notice = $10 < 72 hours notice = $13 < 24 hours notice = $25




Do I have to pay my sitter for the whole time they are booked?


Yes! Sitters are owed full compensation for the time they are booked--even if you come home early.




Do clients tip their sitters?


Tipping is never required, but always appreciated! If you enjoyed your sitter and they met your expectations, you can always add a tip to the sitter payment if you wish.





Cancelling

What happens if I need to cancel one of my confirmed appointments?


All cancellations can be completed in your online client account! A cancellation fee applies if you are cancelling within 48 hours of the appointment time. All cancellation fees are paid online via credit card and sent to your sitter for the inconvenience. STLS Cancellation Fees: >48 hours notice = $0 <48 hours notice = $12 <24 hours notice = $25




Can I cancel a pending request?


Members are not able to cancel appointments that have not yet been confirmed with a provider and are still pending. If you would like to remove your request or find alternate care, notify the office via email or phone and we will cancel the appointment and credit your scheduling fee to put towards future use.
